Timestamps
Recorded samples are associated with a timestamp expressed in nanoseconds since the beginning of the record on a 64-bits unsigned integer. The timestamp is automatically added when the sample is sent to the recording system using a high resolution Stopwatch clock. Time measurement accuracy depends on the frequency of this clock. During our experimentations with PLUME, the Stopwatch implementation on our machine was accurate within 100 nanoseconds (107 ticks/s).
